Eleanor Cashin Ritaine joined LALIVE in 2011. Her main areas of practice are international commercial law, with a special focus on the banking sector, and international dispute resolution. She has a strong expertise in private international law.
Eleanor Cashin Ritaine is a French and Swiss-qualified attorney, and can advise clients on matters of French, German, EU and Swiss law. Before joining LALIVE, she was the director of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law in Lausanne. Her previous experience includes permanent academic positions at the universities of Nancy and Metz (France) and Saarbrücken (Germany). She also has been an ad hoc expert during various negotiations on International Private Law conventions at the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
Eleanor Cashin Ritaine is a member of several professional associations, including the Société Suisse de Droit International (SSDI), the International Law Association, the Association Capitant, the Société de Législation Comparée, the Association Suisse de Droit Européen, the International Academy of Comparative Law and the American Society of Comparative Law.
She holds a double French and German PhD in Private Law (Nancy and Saarbrücken, 1992-1998, summa and magna cum laude), an EMBA in Management and Corporate Finance (HEC Lausanne, 2007-2008) and a Diploma in International Relations (IEP Strasbourg 1986-1989). She is also a holder of the prestigious Hague Diploma of International Law (Hague Academy of International Law 2000).
